The exhibition Encountering place features a series of prints by Monika Lukowska, created during her creative practice PhD, in the School of Design and Art at Curtin University.

Encountering place features printmaking works created as part of a PhD, at Curtin University. Lukowska examines the materiality of place, while investigating the effect of two radically different places – Katowice, her hometown in Poland, and Perth, her home of 3 years. The artist uses walking as a means to gain sensorial and tactile knowledge of each place. In her work she questions how the experiences, sensations and memories of place can be embedded within a printed surface.
