Immerse yourself in the lavish and decadent world of West Australian Opera’s Don GIovanni, this October at enex Perth. Before West Australian Opera’s highly anticipated production of Don Giovanni takes its bow at His Majesty’s Theatre, enex Perth will be showcasing the stunning costumes by German costume designer Carl Friedrich Oberle as part of Costume Couture with West Australian Opera. From Monday, October 1 to Sunday October 28, patrons will have the rare opportunity to get an up close look at the talent and artistry of Oberle’s stunning 17th century costumes. 

As part of the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival cultural program, Costume Couture with West Australian Opera at enex Perth will showcase a handful of the many opulent and extravagant costumes featured in the Opera. From the lavish ballgowns of Donna Anna and Elvira, to the formalwear of 17thcentury Spanish high society; and the commanding costume of the titular lead; this FREE exhibition like the seductive Don Giovanni himself, will leave your heart racing.

Born in Germany, Carl Friedrich Oberle is one of the most sought after international costume designers, having worked on productions of The Magic Flute, Cosi Fan Tutte and La Clemenza di Tito. His other notable credits include working for Opera Frankfurt, the Welsh National Opera and Opera Zurich.

In addition to the lavish costumes, West Australian Opera’s Don Giovanni boasts a sumptuous score, stunning sets and an all-star cast lead by Teddy Tahu Rhoades. The Aria and Helpmann award winner will once again step into the iconic shoes of the philandering and manipulative titular character, Don Giovanni, whose foolish pursuit for a life of constant pleasure will consequently lead to his undoing. West Australian Opera’s Don Giovanni will be showing at His Majesty’s Theatre from October 20 – October 27.
