Lotterywest Christmas Symphony (expired event)

Light your candles & get your jingle bells ready for a night filled with Christmas sing-alongs and classical music hits with a magical fireworks filled finale under the stars.

West Australian Symphony Orchestra is absolutely delighted to join forces with Lotterywest, the City of Perth and Variety, the children’s charity, to create Perth’s largest outdoor Christmas concert, Christmas Symphony!

We have injected more of the festive spirit into Symphony in the City, our annual outdoor celebration of classical music, to kick off summer with this new and extended program.

Hosted by Channel 9’s Louise Momber and Michael Thomson, Christmas Symphony will feature a complete program of classical music hits and everyone’s favourite Christmas carols. Families can sing-along to Jingle Bells and Silent Night while also enjoying the sparkling Overture to Bernstein’s Candide, Jupiter from Holst’s The Planets and Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular 1812 Overture, featuring a spectacular fireworks-filled finale.

This magical evening will feature more than 150 performers on stage including West Australian Symphony Orchestra, WASO Chorus, Variety Choir and special guests including the one and only, Santa.

Families can enjoy a picnic and pre-show entertainment in Langley Park from 5pm. The full program for the evening will be announced on Wednesday 5 December.

We will light up the night at Langley Park on Saturday 15 December from 5pm.

Scoop's Tips

• Langley Park is just walking distance from Perth CBD
• There are three nearby train stations: Elizabeth Quay (1.5km), McIver (1.5km), and Perth Underground (1.9km). 
• Patrons, please note that there will be no parking available on Langley Park this year. For real-time bay availability at car parks around Langley Park, please visit www.cityofperthparking.com.au/
• The ACROD pickup and drop-off zone is along the riverside of Terrace Road. For safety, patrons must use hazard lights and observe 8kmh speed limit after the 5:30pm road closure.
• The ACROD parking area is at the rear of the venue and can be accessed via the entry opposite Hill Street. A current ACROD permit must be displayed at all times. After the concert please use the pickup and drop off area along the riverside of Terrace Road as there is strictly no vehicular access into the audience area of the park.
• We advise you arrive as early as 4 or 4:30pm and enjoy a relaxing picnic dinner in the parkto ensure yourself a great view.
• Grab a programme when you arrive along with the upcoming year's Calendar of WASO Concerts. 
• Watch out for the magnificent fireworks in the last performance
• Stick around for a few minutes after if you'd like to catch any bonus performances!
