Description

Presented by local performance-maker Noemie Huttner-Koros and BRINK Festival, Mother of Compost: A Night of Art & Activism brings together theatre, music and creative forms of activism.

Occurring in two parts, the first part of the evening is a playful participatory workshop delving into the relationships between art, activism and community organising facilitated by playwright and poet Vivienne Glance and Noemie Huttner-Koros. This is followed by a solo improvised performance by local experimental singing legend Sage Pbbbt (Speechless, Perth Festival 2019) and the premiere performance of Noemie Huttner-Koros’ new theatre work Mother of Compost. Mother of Compost is a gooey, camp and fierce subversion of family portraits, evolutionary biology and the mantra of 'going forth and procreating'. In an ecologically and politically precarious world, how can we harness the energy of nurturing and care-giving to radically rethink who and what we are parents to, and offspring of? This event is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries.
