Must-try eateries in Yagan Square

For decades, the humble metropolis of Perth was screaming for a link between the CBD and Northbridge. Since opening last year, Yagan Square has become a hub for meeting and eating. Crammed with hip eateries, we’ve taken a tastebud tour of Market Hall and rounded up some foodie staples and recent openings. Whether you feel like ice cream, bánh mì or some delicious contemporary bush tucker, you’ll find it all under one roof.

The Shoe

The Shoe and Bar Café offers the perfect hotspot for those to choose between their morning coffee or an afternoon beer or cocktail all in the same place. Nicknamed “The Shoe”, the two-story eatery has become extremely popular with its delicious food and views over Yagan Square.

The Globe

With a beer garden, cosy indoor bar, fairy lights and grand murals paying homage to the original Globe Hotel and its history. This pub lies just outside of Yagan Square and will make you feel at ease plus it might even remind you of your favourite Melbourne pub or restaurant. The Globe will offer you delicious pub food including burgers, shared platters and a mix of international and local beers, there’s defiantly something for everyone.

Gangnam

With a full range of flavours and spice levels to adjust to your liking, you’ll be guaranteed to enjoy your choice from Gangnam’s authentic Korean and Asian menu. Indulge in some Korean fried chicken, choose from four different flavoured Bibimbap, or dig into a comforting bowl of noodles.

Shy John Brewery & Yum Cha

With a variety of mouth-watering menu items like their tea-smoked chicken, squid ink dumplings and purple rice coconut pudding, this is one for the foodies. Combining traditional Cantonese dishes with award-winning brews, the Shy team have four menus to choose from. Since its opening, the restaurant has received an array of positive reviews about its relaxed and friendly environment. Visit between 11:30am and 2:30pm or 5:00pm and 9:00pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

Ficus

Showcasing farm-to-plate dining at its finest, Ficus is unlike any other. Enjoy stunning views of the city while tucking into the best of contemporary Aussie food made with a French flair. The food at Ficus is prepared using local seasonal ingredients, delivered daily. Don’t go past their Chateaubriand, which is melt-in-your-mouth good.
