Are you ready for a hike filled with history, rainforests, and a beautiful mountain view? Look no further than the Mt Kembla Ring Track located near Wollongong, New South Wales.

This out-and-back trail features a total of 3.4 km and an elevation gain of 251 m, with an average time of 1 hour and 27 minutes to complete. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your hike:

Beginning in the Mt Kembla Summit Park, the Mt Kembla Ring Track takes you on a journey through local history, meandering rainforest trails, tall woodlands, and open trails. The path can include rough terrain, steep stairs, and muddy sections, so be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Keep an eye out for chain rails to assist you on the steeper sections.

As you make your way through the rainforest section, you'll be immersed in the sights and sounds of canopy heights, varied tree species, and the local wildlife. Look out for Lyrebirds, and take time to admire the old and ancient tree specimens that thrive in this protected area.

The trail also takes you to the historical site of the pit pony stables. This area is protected, so be sure to respect the site and enjoy the surroundings before making your way back on the same trail to the junction point with the rainforest and signage.

From here, the trail continues with an easy stroll through bush land and old rural land, passing old mine sites and remnants of old structures that stood there in the times of past mining and farming in the area. The
