Description

The Mimosa Rocks Walking Track in Wapengo is a beginner-friendly walk that offers scenic views and historical significance.

Situated in the northern part of the Mimosa Rocks National Park, this trail is easy to navigate and suitable for both adults and children. It is also wheelchair accessible, allowing people with mobility impairments to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Starting at Aragunnu Carpark, the track connects two picnic areas in the section. The walk begins with a 250m paved path and boardwalk, crossing over the largest Aboriginal midden in the park. Along the way, signposts provide important information about the area, making the trail well-defined and informative.

At the end of the boardwalk, visitors are rewarded with magnificent views of the rocks from the lookout. From there, you can explore the large pyramid-shaped rock, which is known as the resting place of the shipwrecked Mimosa. The park is named after this paddle steamer that ran aground in 1863. During these months, the weather is mild, and there is less rainfall compared to the summer months. This provides ideal conditions for enjoying the scenery without the concern of extreme heat or heavy rain.
