Description

Welcome to Tuross Head, a quaint seaside village located on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia.

The town is conveniently located midway between the towns of Moruya and Narooma, just a few kilometres off the Princes Highway. As of the 2016 census, Tuross Head had a population of 2,241 people, and the median age of its residents was 59 years.

Tuross Head is uniquely located on a headland that juts out into the Tasman Sea, with Coila Lake to the north and Tuross Lake and Tuross River to the south, creating a beautiful water landscape. The headland is virtually surrounded by water and is joined to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. The two lakes provide a serene and safe environment for various water-based activities, including peaceful sailing on Coila Lake or leisurely skiing on the Tuross Lake broadwater. Visitors can easily explore the waterways using a kayak or a boat from the boat ramp facility.

There are numerous coastal walks and a cycleway that runs from one end of the village to the other, providing stunning views of the Tasman Sea and the beautiful local flora and fauna. For nature enthusiasts, there is a diversity of local bushland to explore, ranging from coastal dunes to three protected areas of littoral rainforest.

Tuross Head offers a range of accommodation options for everyone, from bed and breakfasts, camping sites, and a motel to a wide selection of holiday houses to suit most budgets. There is a local shopping centre, a golf and bowling club, and a variety of cafes and restaurants, offering excellent dining options.

The village of Tuross Head is the birthplace of Eva Mylott, a famous opera singer
