Description

Protesters Falls is a must-see destination in the Lismore Hinterland, located in the World Heritage Nightcap National Park.

It gained its name from the successful anti-logging protest held in 1979. Visitors can reach the falls by taking an enjoyable hike from the Terania Creek Picnic Area, passing through the serene Bangalow Palm forest. Once there, they can admire the stunning sight of the falls cascading down the cliff face and enjoy a picnic in the designated areas. Swimming is not allowed due to the presence of the endangered Fleay's Barred Frog, which has particular significance to the area. The best time to visit is during the rainy season from December to March when the falls are at their most spectacular. To get to Protesters Falls, follow the well-signposted route from the nearby village of The Channon. If traveling by car, take the Lismore-Bangalow Road and follow the signs. Public transport options are limited, with no bus services available, but visitors can cycle or take a taxi from the nearest station, approximately nine kilometers away. For more information on the history of Protesters Falls, visitors can contact the Lismore Visitor Information Centre.
