Description

Mindeerup South Perth is a vibrant gateway to the South Perth Foreshore, offering stunning views of the Swan River and Perth city skyline.

Located near Mends Street Jetty, it provides easy access to various South Perth attractions, including Perth Zoo and the Perth CBD. What sets Mindeerup apart is its celebration of Noongar culture and heritage, making it a unique and culturally significant destination.

One of the main attractions at Mindeerup is the Mindeerup Artwalk, a self-paced guided tour of public art that showcases contemporary pieces inspired by the world's oldest living culture. These artworks use new materials and technologies to tell stories and highlight the local places, people, and stories that have inspired them. The Artwalk features captivating pieces that have won national awards and works by leading public artists from Western Australia.

Mindeerup also features eye-catching public artworks, such as larger-than-life animal canopies that greet visitors at the piazza. These installations, including a giant numbat and a frilled neck lizard, were designed in consultation with Perth Zoo to represent the zoo's focus on conservation and native fauna. Additionally, artworks by Western Australian artists Mikaela Castledine and Russell Sheridan, such as meerkats and emus, can be found in the area, acknowledging the historical links between the area and the zoo.

To ensure that Noongar culture is at the center of Mindeerup, stunning artworks by Noongar artist Yondee Shane Hansen and Art + (Art Coordination) were commissioned specifically for the site. Hansen's sculptures, titled Yedi Waangki-ny (Songlines), are embedded in the paving near the grassed area and feature intricate patterns referencing elements of nature. Visitors can also
