Description

LifeCare Dental Health and Beauty through professional care. Open 365 days a year to meet all of your dental needs, planned and unplanned.

21 years ago Alex Negoescu, Principal Dental Surgeon, commenced the 7 day, 8.00 to 8.00 dental practice LifeCare Dental (LCD). The service provided by LifeCare was unique then, and remains unique to this day. Today it takes 26 Dental Surgeons,  2 Hygienists, 52 nurses, 9 Sterilization nurses, 16 receptionists, 4 laboratory staff,  and 10 administration staff, to ensure we continue to offer dental services when you need them.

Availability and convenience of service also extends to our dental laboratory.  Express service (2 hour turn around) can be requested on weekdays for both denture repairs and for manufacture of your custom fit mouth guard. The Australian Dental Association, American Dental Association and findings of independent studies recommend Custom fitted mouth guards (eg.Chalmers, 1998). Custom fit mouth guards are superior to boil and bite mouth guards in regards to: effectiveness, comfort, adaptability, stability and ability to talk when you have your mouth guard in. An examination by a dentist is required, the reason being, if you need fillings and they are done later, your mouth guard will no longer fit! The procedure involves an impression or mould being taken of your upper teeth and lower teeth, onsite manufacture of the mouth guard, and then your mouth guard is issued.

Ability: The level of experience and expertise held by our dentists ensures not only availability of care, but ability to have all your treatment requirements met. Treatments available at LCD range from the most simple preventative and restorative procedures, to the most complex cosmetic treatments. There are no wait lists for any of your treatment requirements including services that are sometimes only available from specialist dentists such as wisdom teeth removal or full mouth reconstruction with implants.

Affability: Affability is defined as pleasant to speak to; approachable, gentle and gracious. Anyone that has attended LifeCare Dental in an emergency situation might testify that it is sometimes more like a triage centre in a major public hospital, in that there is often as sense of urgency and all hands on deck! This is the trade-off sometimes in striving to provide care when it is needed! Most of the time however the staff at LifeCare Dental manages to create a atmosphere of calm, professional care. It is reassuring to know that despite the “spikes” in business, the high standard of care is never compromised.

Excellence in Care: Back to Basics: Whilst the dentists at LifeCare aim to give the best possible treatments, they recognize the realities and constraints of life whereby finances often dictate the treatment a person can have at any given time. Every new patient at LCD receives an individualized treatment overview, which details the “scope of work” where every tooth is charted and the treatment required is indicated. Patients are then aware of what work they require and can discuss with the dentist the order the work should be completed in. The treatment overview is also helpful as we recognize the process of attending the dentist can be anxiety provoking and people can’t always take in all the information that is given to them!

Excellence in care dental care extends to every aspect of the dental work performed by each dentist in the team. There is a strong system of peer review, and all impressions for crown and bridgework, and implants are reviewed by the Principal Surgeon. Regular peer review meetings are also conducted for treatment planning, to ensure that all work is appropriate and completed in the most logical and helpful order possible, particularly if there are budget constraints. These processes ensure that the highest standard of dental work is enjoyed by all of our patients.

Excellence in Care: Education: The quest for excellence in dental care is reflected in the ongoing education program at LCD. The dentists at LifeCare dental had the privilege of being the first dentists in private practice in Australia to utilize the “virtual reality in dentistry” program at the University of Western Australia. The principal dental surgeon Dr Alex Negoescu scored 100%  for the  “virtual” crown preparation. A story that he tells with pride and regularity! Similarly high scores were achieved by all 25 of the LCD dental surgeons. Regular in house training occurs for all members of staff, such as instrument sterilization, infection control, first aide, and customer care.

Excellence in Care: Innovation: Virtual reality previews of your finished smile. Anyone that has had a bad perm or haircut will understand the importance of truly understanding how a finished product is going to look. Many patients come in requesting “piano key white” crowns. Rather than dissuading people about their choices we have purchased the latest technology virtual reality computer program, the Snap Digital Imaging   or digital “Smile Makeover”. The procedure involves a digital photo being taken, much like a passport photo except you get to smile! You then discuss or specifying to the dental attendant what it is you would like to achieve with your smile and dental health. The digital photo is loaded into the computer which then identifies the dimensions of your teeth, gums and bite. You can specify any treatment you desire, for example you can see how your teeth would look with veneers, full mouth restoration with implants, crown lengthening for people with “gummy” smiles, or how your teeth will look if you have them whitened. This innovative and exciting service is included as part of your initial consultation. The before and “after” photo is printed and given to you to discuss with your dentist or put on the fridge at home with your wish list!
