Prepare to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of reptile and amphibian anatomy in this double workshop!

This workshop is designed to inspire and challenge you as you work with high-quality materials and learn from an expert in the field to gain the skills and knowledge with a focus on wet specimen preservation.

Under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon participants learn a variety of museum techniques.

Reptile Replica: You will learn to position a reptile specimen in a life like manner, colour match and painting, create your own mould suitable for the specimen you are working on and learn how to create a cast from your mould.

Toad Taxidermy: Gain fascinating insights into toad anatomy while being guided through the process of dissecting and preparing a specimen for wet preservation, including techniques to colour the various important structures of a specimen and how to showcase the toad and its anatomy in a scientific display. Take home your creation in a glass jar.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a pencil or pen and a notepad.

All students will be provided with the correct PPE while processing these animals.

Please note: Chemicals used include ethanol, Formalin, and enamel paint. All materials are supplied and ethically sourced where possible.
