Description
Over the course of their multi-week PICA residency, the School of Critical Arts (SCA) will hold free courses and lectures in art, philosophy, culture and theory.
The school aims to promote a friendly environment of enquiry, critical thinking and reflection for audiences interested in engaging with contemporary theory.
SCA’s face-to-face classes allow for the critical discussion of ideas, artworks and culture, as well as encouraging attention to everyday issues to help students develop their thinking in collaboration with others. Participants are encouraged to read, write, make art, and speak publicly as a complement to their theoretical studies.
SCA emphasises feedback and discussion over assessment and aims to help each participant challenge and cultivate their ways of thinking, interpreting and making sense of ideas. Collaboration between different disciplinary areas of the school is encouraged and participants of all levels are welcome to attend.
