Description
Josten will develop a concert-length, solo performance for alto saxophone and three-channel surround sound that uses a unique microtonal language developed by the artist.
This sonically immersive piece embodies a tender and connected relationship with both sounding and listening.
About the Artist
Central to Josten Myburgh’s practice is improvisation, field recording and experimental composition. An active member of Boorloo’s exploratory music underground, he co-directs influential record label Tone List and is producer and curator of the annual Audible Edge Festival of Sound. Josten has presented wrok at festivals, museums and concert series in Australia and internationally, including Vestafor (Norway), Cable#8 (Nantes), Perth International Jazz Festival and Sacred Realism (Berlin). His collaborations with interdisciplinary artists have been presented at the Art Gallery of WA, PICA, Carriageworks (Sydney) and Dancehouse (Melbourne). Myburgh was awarded the Schenberg Fellowship in Composition in 2019.
