Description
Bella Lubcke’s residency at PICA will explore the history of found materials with relationships to PICA and the Perth Cultural Centre, taking into account the shapes and elements of the PICA building.
Her slow-making and repetitive process allows for moments of intimacy with the materials and enables her to consider their histories.
About the Artist
Bella Lubcke is an emerging artist fascinated by textiles and the interwoven histories that pre-exist in fabrics and domestic materials. Her practice currently revolves around relational aesthetics, with the art piece existing only to facilitate some form of participation. She works through our perceptions, relationships, and feelings towards the body, particularly the female body. Simple forms like soft-sculpture tubes re-appear throughout her work as a playful motif that encourages ongoing creativity and intuition.
