Description

D'Entrecasteaux National Park is a stunning natural wonder located 315 km (196 mi) south of Perth. It covers a vast area of 130 km (81 mi) and features diverse landscapes such as beaches, sand dunes, coastal cliffs, coastal heath, and pockets of Karri forest.

The park is also home to rivers like Warren, Donnelly, and Shannon, which flow into the off-shore waters.

Some unique features of the park include Black Point, made up of basalt columns formed 135 million years ago, and Yeagarup dune, a mobile 10-kilometre (6.2 mi) long sand dune located west of Lake Jasper. The park also boasts significant wetlands and lakes like Blackwater, Lakes Jasper, and Yeagarup. Broke Inlet, at the eastern end of the park, is a large-scale wetland that has remained mostly unchanged. Sandy Island, located in Windy Harbour, is included in the park and serves as a nesting site for seabirds.

The park offers various facilities such as barbecues, toilets, 4WD tracks, campsites, disabled access, and picnic spots. Canoeing is available on the Deep River, and Outward Bound takes students on hikes into the park. Rangers patrol the park to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. Additionally, the Bibbulmun Track, one of Western Australia's most famous trails, passes through the park, providing a beautiful hiking experience for visitors.
