Description

Nanarup Beach is a stunning beach located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, around 20 kilometres (12 mi) east of Albany. The beach is white-sanded and stretches for approximately 4.2 kilometres (3 mi).

Visitors can access the beach via a stairway located at the western end, where Taylor Inlet meets the ocean. Public facilities such as toilets and a picnic area are conveniently located near the western end of the beach. Four-wheel drive vehicles are allowed on the beach, providing access to Two Peoples Bay.

Nanarup Beach is particularly popular for surfing and fishing. In 2013, a man drowned at Nanarup Beach after being swept off the rocks while fishing.

The east side of the beach is mostly backed by 12-metre (40 ft) calcarenite bluffs, while the west is dominated by unstable dunes. The beach also features scattered beachrock reefs at the eastern end for approximately 1.0 kilometre (1 mi), before curving southwest. The remaining part of the beach is a wave-dominated surf zone that extends towards the inlet.

At the far western end of Nanarup Beach lies Islet Point, characterized by 20-meter (66 ft) granite boulders. These boulders are connected to the shore by a small tombolo, creating a sheltered pool area suitable for safe swimming.

In conclusion, Nanarup Beach offers a beautiful coastal getaway with opportunities for swimming, surfing, and fishing. The beach can be accessed
