Covering a distance of 55 kilometers, the coastal trail begins at Merrica River and finishes at Mallacoota, offering magnificent scenery throughout the walk.

The Nadgee Wilderness Walk takes hikers through truly isolated and stunning landscapes, providing opportunities to explore secluded beaches, rugged coastlines, peaceful lagoons, and shifting sand dunes. Along the way, hundreds of seabirds such as gannets and short-tailed shearwaters can be spotted, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Additionally, during the whale migration season, from August to November, lucky hikers can watch these amazing creatures making their way along the coast. These months provide cool sea breezes, mild temperatures and less rainfall, which makes the walk more bearable.

The Nadgee Wilderness Walk starts from the Merrica River car park, approximately 35 kilometers south of Eden, and finishes at the Mallacoota car park in Victoria. The walk can be done in either direction, allowing hikers to choose their preferred starting point. To reach the Merrica River car park, take the Princes Highway and follow the Green Cape/Mallacoota signs.

The Nadgee Wilderness Walk is an advanced trek and is only suitable for experienced hikers who are well-prepared and equipped with appropriate gear.
