Description

The Hills Sculpture Trail in Mount Barker features 26 contemporary stone sculptures made by sculptors who travelled to the region from around the world for the Adelaide Hills Sculpture Symposium events in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

The Cedars in Hahndorf - property of Sir Hans Heysen - was used as an artistic hub by the sculptors, where they carved their dreams in stone as they ground, chipped, chiselled and polished under the gum trees.

The Hills Sculpture Trail is a stunning outdoor art installation that connects towns and regions, art and people, nature and beauty. Most sculptures are dotted around the breathtaking landscape of Adelaide Hills, but some can also be found in the neighbouring region of Fleurieu Peninsula. Sculptures can be found in the following townships; Mount Barker (8), Stirling (3), Hahndorf (2), Macclesfield, Balhannah, Lobethal, Meadows, Littlehampton, Mount Torrens, Nairne, Woodside and Bridgewater. On the Fleurieu Peninsula sculptures can be found in Langhorne Creek, Mount Compass, Milang and Strathalbyn.

The Hills Sculpture Trail in Mount Barker is a year-round attraction. Visitors can enjoy the installations in all four seasons as the changing environment adds beauty and character to the sculptures. In autumn, the nearby landscape provides a picturesque backdrop of colourful leaves, while in the summer, visitors can enjoy the warmth and sunshine as they stroll from sculpture to sculpture.

All sculptures on the Hills Sculpture Trail are located on public land, and the majority are easily accessible for visitors. Visitors can drive to each of the township’s where sculptures are displayed, or they
