As you step into the Norman Jolly Picnic Area, you'll be greeted by towering old-growth trees. The largest of these behemoths stand up to 55 metres tall and are a couple of metres wide. They are thought to be 800 years old, adding to the allure of this scenic location. The picnic area is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely afternoon picnic with family and friends or gobble up a delicious meal amongst the trees as you take in the stunning views.

If you’re up for a leisurely walk, be sure to take on the Coachwood Loop track that starts from the picnic area. It is an easy walk and would take 20-30 minutes to complete, where you can experience the true beauty of the area. You'll be surrounded by undisturbed nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Norman Jolly Picnic Area is dedicated to nineteenth-century forester, Norman Jolly, who made remarkable contributions to the teaching and practice of forestry in Australia. A few meters from the picnic area, you'll observe a couple of historic logging arches, which are relics of a time when the land was being logged. These arches provide an insight into the history of the region and are a testament to the sustainable use of the forests.
