A group of college students venture into a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. While exploring the eerie surroundings, they stumble upon the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, an ancient book bound in human flesh and inked in blood, containing passages that unleash unspeakable evil.

Unaware of the sinister power they have unleashed, the friends unwittingly awaken demonic forces that possess them one by one, turning them into bloodthirsty fiends. Trapped in the cabin with no means of escape, they must fight for their lives against the relentless onslaught of evil.

Raimi’s seminal horror made a cult icon of Bruce Campbell and turned its director into hot property. Much imitated, but never bettered, The Evil Dead was the birth of an independently-spirited, viscerally-minded new wave in low-budget horror cinema.
