Description

The America Bay Track in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is a 2km return walk that offers a quick and easy escape into beautiful natural surroundings.

The highlight of this walk is the stunning lookout at the end, which provides breathtaking views of America Bay. The track is easily accessible from McCarrs Creek Road via West Head Road, and there is a small parking area available at the start of the track.

Along the trail, you will come across an intersection to an Aboriginal engravings site. It can be easy to miss, so keep an eye out for a wooden pole. By turning right at the intersection and following the path for about 100 meters, you will find a large flat rocky area with well-preserved Aboriginal engravings.

Continuing through scenic bushland, the track crosses a creek that flows into America Bay, where you can see a small waterfall that is most impressive after rainfall. The Lookout Point at the end of the track offers amazing views of America Bay, with another waterfall where the creek descends into the bay, creating a picturesque scene.

The trail is graded as "Easy" and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. While the path is well-marked, it is recommended to wear good walking shoes due to the occasionally rocky and uneven surface. Parking at the trailhead is limited, with only a few lay-bys available for two to three cars each. There is an entrance fee of $12 for vehicles, which allows visitors to spend the entire day in the park.

The America Bay walking track is accessible all year round, making it a great option to visit during any season. It is advisable to pack appropriate gear such as waterproof jackets, sunscreen, insect repellent
