Description

Malkumba-Coongie Lakes National Park is a protected area located in the north-east of South Australia.

It was established in 2005 to conserve significant wetlands, provide unique experiences for visitors, and protect the core component of the Coongie Lakes system. The park is also recognized as a Ramsar Convention site, highlighting its importance in protecting wetlands and their resources. It is co-managed by the Department of Environment and Water, the Yandruwandha Yawarrawarrka Parks Advisory Committee, and the South Australian Arid Lands Natural Resources Management Board. The park is classified as an IUCN Category II protected area, emphasizing its role in ecosystem protection and recreation.
