Description

Greenough Leaning Trees are a must-see natural phenomenon in Western Australia.

This bizarre collection of trees can be found scattered throughout the Greenough area. The trees are located on private property, but don't worry, you won't miss them as you drive along the Brand Highway.

The trees, which have become somewhat of an icon, lean at unusual angles to the ground. This phenomenon is caused by the airborne salt content that is blown in with the winds off the Indian Ocean. The result is a collection of unique trees with trunks that lie almost horizontal to the ground.

Visitors can view and take photographs of the leaning trees from a roadside carpark approximately 20 minutes south of Geraldton. Look out for the camera icon which will mark the local spot. The location offers a great opportunity for keen photographers to capture the unusual shapes and angles of the trees.

Whilst in the area, visitors should make sure to visit Greenough, a picturesque town located just a short distance away. With its well-preserved 19th-century architecture and history, Greenough is a great place to learn about the area's past.

Greenough is around four and a half hours' drive north of Perth, or just 20 minutes south of Geraldton. The best time to visit is during the day, and it's recommended to avoid the hottest parts of the day as it can get quite warm.

Don't miss out on an opportunity to view one of Western Australia's most unique attractions. A visit to the Greenough Leaning Trees is the perfect addition to any nature lover's itinerary.
