Mt Maxwell

Attractions

Description

A great little walk for wildflower enthusiasts to a lookout with 360-degree views of the park.

A short walk from the car park through coastal heath takes you to a lookout on Mount Maxwell. Sweeping views stretch to the western boundary of the park and to pale grey peaks in the south that are part of the park’s iconic Barrens Range.

Passionate about plants
Mount Maxwell was named after George Maxwell (1804-1880), naturalist and professional plant and insect collector. He discovered several local plants including the nodding banksia (Banksia nutans). His collections are now preserved in the Australian herbarium.

Caring for the park:
Please clean footwear and equipment at the start and finish of any walks you do in natural areas to prevent the spread of Phytopthora dieback.
