Description

Fingal Head Lighthouse is an active lighthouse located at Fingal Head, New South Wales, Australia.

It is situated on a headland about 5 kilometres south of Point Danger, which marks the Queensland border. The station was first established in 1872 and has a rich history. The current structure was designed by James Barnet in 1878 and is made of bricks and cement rendered from the outside. The tower is topped by an oversailing bluestone platform and a domed lantern housing the optical apparatus. The light is operated by Transport for NSW, and the site is managed by the New South Wales Department of Lands. Visitors can access the lighthouse by road from the Pacific Highway and enjoy the grounds, but the tower itself is not open to the public.
