Description

Duke Of Orleans Bay, affectionately known as ‘The Duke’ by its most frequent visitors from Esperance and Kalgoorlie, is situated on a peninsula, between Cape Le Grand and Cape Arid National Parks.

It is considered one of the most picturesque and uncrowded coastal wilderness playgrounds in Australia, where visitors can enjoy fishing, surfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, four-wheel driving or just kicking back.

Pack all your essentials, including body boards, drinks, food, towels, and fishing rods, and spend a day exploring the bay, nearby beaches and coves. The southern end of the bay features a ramp to launch your small boat and chase a fresh fish dinner. Travelers often come here for family holidays to indulge in recreational activities such as surfing, walking, and four-wheel driving.

The only overnight option at The Duke is a caravan park. The bay offers spacious and pet-friendly tenting and caravan areas. The caravan park provides all modern amenities, including a laundry, a camp kitchen, BBQ facilities, and clean bathrooms.

The months between October and December are highly recommended for visiting Duke Of Orleans Bay. These months witness a dazzling variety of wildflower blooms, making the peninsula and national parks scenic and colorful. The area is also less crowded during this period.

Duke Of Orleans Bay is located just over an hour’s drive east from Esperance and can be accessed via the sealed Orleans Bay Road. Visitors are advised to come prepared with a high-clearance vehicle and all necessary safety equipment.
