Description

Fishery Beach is a popular fishing beach located between Cape Jervis and Blowhole Beach.

It got its name from the fishing activities that took place during the early settlement of South Australia. While swimming is not recommended due to strong currents, the beach is great for fishing, walking, picnics, and exploring historical ruins.

The beach has a rich history dating back to the 1840s/1850s when it was home to a whaling station. Visitors can still see some of the ruins from that time period. Fishery Beach was also used as a shipping port for the export of ore from the Talisker Mine in 1862.

Aside from its historical significance, Fishery Beach offers excellent fishing opportunities. It is a popular spot for catching salmon, tommy ruffs, flathead, squid, and mullet. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the beach or set up a picnic to take in the picturesque views of the ocean.

Fishery Beach Cape Jervis is an all-year-round destination for outdoor activities. To get to Fishery Beach, visitors can take the ferry service from Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island. The beach is a 10-minute drive from Cape Jervis. Alternatively, visitors can drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis, which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
