Description

For those seeking a secluded and peaceful nature escape, the Broulee Island Nature Reserve Walk is an excellent choice.

A permanent sandbar joins the island to the mainland, making it readily accessible. You can either start your journey from the southern end of North Broulee Beach or park your car at the Broulee Surf Club and head north around the rocks to Shark Bay.

The Broulee Island Nature Reserve Walk is 4 kilometres in length and offers an enjoyable and moderately challenging walk. Be prepared to bring comfortable and appropriate footwear along as the walk track features some rocky terrain. As you explore the tranquil setting of Broulee Island, you'll quickly be taken in by the native plant species and the birdlife such as the superb fairy wren and white-bellied sea eagle. Photographers can also take advantage of the stunning ocean vistas and pristine rock pools.

The Broulee Island Nature Reserve Walk can be enjoyed year-round, but the best times to visit are during the cooler months when it's not as hot or busy. Additionally, you can avoid the crowds by visiting on a weekday during school hours.

If travelling by car, you can take advantage of the available parking at the Broulee Surf Club. Alternate routes include walking directly from the southern end of North Broulee Beach or along Nobby Parade Road. The entire walk takes approximately 2 hours, including the beach walk, so make sure to bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen.
