Description

Located in the prestigious Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, Bronte Beach is a beautiful recreational beach that is maintained by the local Waverley Council.

This popular beach is only two kilometres south of Bondi Beach and is situated north of the much larger Coogee Beach.

Bronte Beach is a popular destination for both locals and tourists who enjoy walking, jogging or cycling. The three beaches in the area, Bondi Beach, Bronte Beach, and Coogee Beach, are linked by a paved coastal footpath along the rocky cliff tops that is perfect for an active day out. For those looking to cool off from the Australian heat, Bronte Beach is a popular spot for surfers who enjoy the non-rough surf. Additionally, a 30-metre ocean pool can be found at the southern end of the beach, widely regarded as one of the best in Sydney, making it perfect for swimmers of all levels.

In 1914, a promenade and sea wall were constructed at Bronte Beach, reducing the size of the sandy area of the beach. In 1918, a functional stormwater drain was built near the bogey hole. In 1961, six children swimming in the bogey hole were washed back into the pipes during heavy wave conditions. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Waverley Council Life Guards and Bronte lifesavers who had to crawl up into the pipes following the two branches, all six children were safely rescued newline.
