It is home to the largest congregation of orcas in the southern hemisphere, with over 150 orcas traversing the Bremer Marine Park from late January to April each year. Visitors can join a chartered tour to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. Bremer Bay is the only location in the country where visitors are guaranteed to spot orcas.

From July to November, visitors can go whale watching as Southern Right whales can be seen calving in the calm waters of the sheltered bays around the area. Bremer Bay is also a great destination for birdwatching, with over 100 species of birds calling the Wellstead Estuary home. Wading birds such as grey plovers, red knots, and sanderlings can be spotted in and around the estuary.

The best time to visit Bremer Bay is from late January to April for orca sightings and from July to November for whale watching. The weather is generally temperate throughout the year, but it's advisable to pack jackets or long-sleeved shirts, especially when exploring the national parks. Sturdy walking shoes are also recommended for those planning on exploring the parks.
