Lamington National Park is a must-visit destination for any nature lover traveling to Australia.

The park's diverse natural environment is home to more than 200 rare and threatened plant and animal species.

Lamington National Park is situated only 85 km (53 mi) southwest of Southport on the Gold Coast and 110 km (68 mi) north of Brisbane. Most of the park is situated 900 meters (3,000 ft) above sea level, only 30 km (19 mi) from the ocean shores. The park is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007.

Aboriginal people lived in and visited the Lamington Mountains for at least 6,000 years before Captain Patrick Logan and Allan Cunningham became the area's first European explorers. The timber cutters soon followed, including the Lahey family who owned one of Queensland's largest timber mills at the time. In 1915, Lamington National Park was established as one of the first protected areas in Queensland. The park was named after Lord Lamington, Governor of Queensland from 1896 to 1902.
