Description

Home of the Somerville Collection, the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum opened in July 2004 in the Bathurst city centre.

Almost 2,000 specimens from the internationally renowned Somerville Collection will be on display. The main attraction for tourists and enthusiasts is the 10½ meter long and 4 meter high skeleton of the Tyrannosaurus Rex (T.Rex).

In addition, the museum houses Australia's largest collection of amber fossils, fossil dinosaur eggs and a large collection of opalescent fossils. Minerals from around the world and scientifically significant fossils from Australia.
