Description

Macleay Park, also known as the Western Myrtle Park, is a sprawling green space in Balwyn North, Melbourne, Australia.

It covers a portion of the valley through which Glass Creek flows and spans the area between Severn St and Buchanan Avenue, with two separate carpark entrances on Belmore Road and Gildan Street.

The land was acquired by the Camberwell City Council in 1923 and became a popular destination for sports enthusiasts. It has been home to several sporting clubs since the 1920s, including the North Balwyn Cricket Club and the North Balwyn Baseball Club. The sporting pavilion was opened in 1962 and rebuilt in 2007.

Access to the park is easy, with bus services available on Belmore Road and multiple pedestrian entrances. Macleay Park is home to nine different sporting clubs, including cricket, baseball, netball, and football clubs. Despite these controversies, Macleay Park remains a picturesque destination with a rich history, offering a perfect blend of sporting facilities and natural beauty.
