Description

The Adelaide Airport Cycle Trails network is a well-maintained 12km long trail that provides a shared path for walkers, mobility access device users, and cyclists.

It consists of three different paths: the Reece Jennings Bikeway, the Anna Meares Bike Path, and the Captain McKenna Pathway. These trails offer a variety of scenery, including natural reserves, views of the airport, suburban streets, and horse paddocks.

The Anna Meares Bike Path is a 2km trail that runs alongside the stormwater drain and Sir Donald Bradman Drive. It offers the opportunity to enjoy the natural reserve and spring flowers while walking or cycling. The path connects to the Reece Jennings Bikeway at Tapleys Hill Road, providing an alternative route that avoids the busy road.

The Reece Jennings Bikeway continues south on the western side of Tapleys Hill Road, offering changing views of the airport and the harbor town. Along the way, there is a small plaque acknowledging the former property of Frogmore. The Bikeway ends at Glenelg, where it intersects with the Mike Turtur Bikeway and Westside Bikeway.

To the east of Glenelg, the Captain McKenna Pathway provides views of Adelaide Airport along the Brownhill Creek Drain. The pathway ends near Watson Avenue at Netley, where it transitions into a series of Bike Direct signs along low traffic suburban streets. This part of the trail offers a unique perspective of the airport's size and complexity.

The Adelaide Airport trails are open year-round and have a flat surface, making them suitable for riders and walkers of all ages. The path is shared and accessible for mobility access device users, including wheelchairs and prams.
