The Southern Highlands wine region, situated in Wingecarribee, New South Wales, is a charming cool-climate area about an hour and a half south of Sydney via the Hume Highway. It forms part of the South Coast wine zone along with the Shoalhaven Coast wine region. The region gained prominence in the 1990s due to the fascination with high altitude vineyards that are particularly suitable for growing Pinot Noir.
