Visit one of WA’s best automotive museums on an easy day trip from Perth.

York Motor Museum

You’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time with this one – the museum, which houses one of Australia’s finest private collections of vintage cars, is situated in historic York. Take a walk through the town’s quaint turn-of-the-century streets while you’re there. Avon Terrace, York, daily 9:30am-3pm, 9641 1288.

West Coast Motor Museum

This museum is home to a tidy collection of just 50 cars, and its small size means all restoration works are done in-house. Make an appointment to view the collection, which includes retired Claremont Speedway cars from the 50s and 60s. Woodland Parade, Mandurah, by appointment only, 0418 935 613.

Motor Museum of WA

As well as its large stock of cars, which date back to the 19th century, this museum also houses an extensive collection of models, memorabilia, workshop equipment, photographs and literature relating to automobiles. Whiteman Park, Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 10am-5pm, 9249 9457.
