Black Swan State Theatre Company
Black Swan State Theatre Company has graced WA stages for 30 years, founded in 1991 by Andrew Ross AM, the company’s original Artistic Director. Every year, Black Swan presents a program of inclusive and accessible theatre productions, commissions and learning experiences for WA audiences. Since their founding, they have been characterised and celebrated for their original works and distinctly Western Australian voice, including cross-cultural collaborations from some of Australia’s finest Indigenous actors and artists.
The company calls the State Theatre Centre of WA home, often creating performances for its multiple venues. Since 1991, Black Swan has presented more than 190 theatre productions, 50 national tours and collaborations, 40 world premieres, 5 international tours and collaborations, and have travelled the length and breadth of Western Australia. Their ongoing artistic vision embraces the diverse and unique community, particularly celebrating the vitality and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
