Where to go for dinner in Fremantle: top date-night restaurants to book for this weekend

On leisurely weekends, there's nothing like heading down to Freo for a laid-back evening of fine food and good company. The port-side town is home to many trendy dining establishments and a thriving nightlife, especially when a band is playing at one of the local live music venues. If you're looking for somewhere new to take your partner, or want to return to a tried-and-tested favourite, check out some of our top spots and book in for the coming weekend.

La Sosta

Serving up delicious modern Italian cuisine, the team at La Sosta handmake all their pasta in house. With their full al a carte menu available, owner Matteo Musetti said to look out for a few newly crafted pasta and entree dishes that have joined their ever-changing seasonal menu.

They're open for both lunch and dinner service until late from Fridays through to Sundays, as well as Wednesdays from 5pm - 10pm and Thursdays from 5pm - 11pm. You can make bookings on their website.

Tonic & Ginger - The Old Synagogue

Located in the historic 1902 Old Synagogue building along Fremantle's South Terrace, Tonic & Ginger serves up modern Asian fusion, with head chef Leigh Power at the helm. It's a beautiful and spacious venue, cleverly making use of the multiple levels of the original building and tastefully fitted out with glass-blown light fittings. Bib & Tucker

Serving up modern Australian dishes in a setting of self-professed 'refined rascality', Eamon Sullivan's popular beachside restaurant serves lunch and dinner throughout the week. Get a taste of their seafood and gourmet pizza as you watch the sunset over the ocean.

Madalena’s Bar

South Fremantle’s dreamiest wine and seafood bar are currently taking walk-ins and bookings for diners, catering for all your seafood needs, featuring sharing plates of delicious, sustainably sourced seafood and locally grown seasonable produce.

They’re open Wednesday & Thursday from 4 – 11pm,  Friday and Saturday from noon until midnight and Sundays from noon until 10pm. Book here.

Bread in Common

Alongside their bakery, which is open daily for all your baked treat needs, Bread in Common is open for dinner till 10pm or late every day of the week with their hearty and satisfying menu, including their delicious duck fat roasted potatoes.

Lions & Tigers

One of the newer venues on this list, having opened last year, Lions & Tigers are the evening sibling of popular Breakfast and Lunch restaurant Duck Duck Bruce.

The menu showcases a selection of the signature fusion twists curry-lovers have come to expect - think vindaloo with paneer gnocchi and curry leaf and roast chilli prawn toast. This is changed regularly so that returning guests can enjoy something new each time.

They're open Tuesday to Thursday from 5pm and Friday and Saturday from 12pm. Watch out for their special event evenings, such as their Roti Taco Tuesday, and Sunday Roast movie night, so check in here for more.

Strange Company

The stylish bar and eatery on Freo's West End runs dinner sittings Wednesdays through to Sundays. With a menu perfectly designed for sharing, grab a bottle of wine from their Aussie-focused wine list and get ready to gaze into your date's eyes all evening. Strange Company are open from 4pm - midnight Monday through Thursday nights and from noon until midnight Fridays through to Sundays.
