In a feat of incredible synchronicity and musicianship, WAAPA students across the state have combined their talents to perform and present two brand new original works, written by composition students.

124 students recorded a clip of themselves performing at home to weave together a final piece including guitar, saxophone, percussion and voice. The individual clips come together to create a vibrant symphony.

The performances have been recorded and edited entirely by undergraduate students, all ready to be seen and heard across the world.

Check out the performance here:

The first piece is called ‘Brave the Wave,’ a call to hope in times where musicians can’t play together in person. Written by 4th Year composition student, Jonathan Jie Hong Yang, it features a huge cast of young performers and showcases the blossoming talent to be found in WA.

Maddie Ivy’s composition, ‘Flow,’ is presented second, and features soft electronics performed by Maddie herself and fellow composition students, as a great complement to the epic proportions of the preceding piece.
