Good news for budding explorers and lovers of cultural history, the WA Museum will be throwing back open its doors on Saturday, June 6.

This applies to the WA Maritime Museum and WA Shipwrecks Museum in Fremantle, and the regional museums based in Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Albany.

Over the closure period, the team have been busy deep-cleaning the sites, and have a COVID-19 safety plan in place. This includes the provision of hand sanitiser, the removal of some interactive exhibits and the installation of automatic temperature scanners. A strict limit of 100 people per area will also apply, although each site can accommodate up to 300 visitors spread across separate areas.

The HMAS Ovens, the Oberon class submarine on display at the WA Maritime Museum will remain closed for the time being.

Something to look forward to, the highly anticipated New Museum at the heart of Perth’s Cultural Precinct is set to open in November 2020. In the meantime, you can get a taste of what to expect below.
