When you’re considering what gift to buy for your mum or a new mum, this Mothers’ Day, consider a gift that also gives back to another WA Mum and her business.  What’s more, a couple of the brands here also give back to society in some way, either by donations or by generating change. Let’s get behind this wave of inspirational, entrepreneurial WA women who are leading by example!

CEACEA Active Oceanwear

CEACEA (pronounced 'sea sea') make active ocean wear: swimwear to be active in, and activewear to swim in. Founded by Caroline Cornish, a keen surfer and mum who felt the need for a multipurpose wardrobe. CEACEA has a range products including tops, crops, bike shorts, swimsuits, leggings, and more, and includes sizes from 6 - 16. The best part, is that they're crafted from luxe, chlorine-resistant, UPF50+, fast-drying material. Taking you from gym to swim in no time, this is perfect for mums on the go. Sustainability is important to CEACEA, which is a completely plastic free company, and aims to reduce clothes wastage from multiple garments. Your purchase at CEACEA gives back too, with $1 from every purchase being donated to women’s' rights organisation, ActionAid.

Handsy Keychain Clips

‘Handsy’ is a bespoke range of keychain clips, hand-braided in bright hues and designed to easily clip onto handbags, backpacks, belt loops and belts. Handsy has been created by Mount Claremont based nurse and mum of two boys, Catherine Le Souef, who hand braids each keychain with love and care. What makes Handsy so strong is paracord, known for its use in parachutes, and by the army, and now a fashion trend. More than just functional, Handsy is available in many colour-ways and designs, meaning you can choose a colour to go with your outfit.

Winterwares Ceramics

For Simone Nabholz, the creative behind ceramics label Winterwares, the tactile side of making products by hand is pure pleasure. “Working with clay gives me time and space to savour everyday moments.” The name Winterwares embodies her mother’s maiden name, Winter, and also Simone’s love of the season. “Families tend to gather in the kitchen, and meals are considered more in winter,” she says. Simone creates stunning mugs, vases, candle holders, bowls and more from her Fremantle studio. If you're feeling stuck on a gift for Mother's Day, look no further, as Simone has created a special mothers day edit, including a range of her handmade mugs, bowls and vases.

Knot Just Cords Macrame Kits

Bree Smith founded  Knot Just Cords in 2018, creating DIY beginner macrame kits that encourage women to take time out for themselves. Inspiration for the kits came out of Bree's love of teaching and wanting to show other busy women how easy it is to incorporate creativity into their day. The DIY kits are designed to help women learn something new, in an easy, and fun way. Not only do they include all the content required to make your own macrame product, but also a short meditation, as Bree wishes the mindfulness will have a positive impact on mental health. Create plant-hangers, wall hangings, key chains and more, and choose a kit mum will love.
