Taste Great Southern 2022; 11 days, 20+ chefs and 30+ culinary experiences

The premium foodie event for WA’s great southern region is back and with a star-studded event lineup. From 5 – 15 May feast on the culinary delights from over 20 talented chefs paired with award-winning wines in the Great Southern Region.

Adventure across the natural landscapes from oceans to ranges and head straight for the heart of Western Australian food and wine with family and friends this autumn.

Celebrate the very best of fresh local food and boutique wineries with long lunches, unique dinners, community markets, music events and premium pairing events. Here are some highlights of what you can expect from this year’s festival.

Catch of the South | Albany - 6 May

Enjoy a line up of some of the star produce in a degustation celebration of all things seafood exploring delights like Akoya oysters, crab, kingfish, herring and more. The menu has been designed as a collaboration with Tasmanian guest chef Analiese Gregory, state chef Don Hancey and local chef Trenton Brennan using the support of local fisherman, WA Fishing Industry Council and Southern Seafood Producers of WA.

Jazz at the Cellar Door | Mount Barker – 7 May

Enjoy outstanding crafted wines, food, and a superb line-up of Western Australia’s best jazz artists including the Gemma Farrell Quintet and Lucy Iffla Quartet who will captivate and delight with their inspired compositions and stunning lyricism, before Brass Party get the revelry started with their brassy take on classic dance tunes from the 90’s and 2000’s.

Albany Food and Wine Festival – 14 May

Held at the Albany Agricultural Society Exhibition Pavilion for the second year, the festival will feature over 35 brands from across the state. On Saturday 14th May, take your chance to taste the 100+ wines on offer from 20 WA wineries with a further 40 stalls for craft beer and local food. There will be three wine sessions hosted by Regal Riesling, Naked Wines and Que Syrah Syrah during the day too.

Frankland River Cellar Door Experience | Frankland Estate, Frankland River 15 May

A rare opportunity to taste the highlights of this unique wine region with a 4 course meal paired with carefully selected Riesling and Syrah wines from each of the 6 producers: Alkoomi, Cherubino, Ferngrove, Frankland Estate, Lange & Swinney, presented by Foni Pollitt. This will be an intimate, interactive long luncheon with the winemakers of the region.

Singlefile Wine ‘A Sense of Place’ Tasting Experience | Denmark 5 – 15 May

A wine tasting experience with a difference. You will be greeted warmly by your Singlefile host at the Cellar Door and led on a tour of our estate vineyard and stunning grounds, plus a behind-the-scenes insight into Singlefile’s History with special barrel tasting.

Cooking Master Class & Lunch by the Lake | Denmark 13 – 14 May

Perth Cook Jordan Bruno will lead this delicious menu which will involve a demonstration and lots of hands-on cooking. After the cooking class you will be treated to a lunch feast by the lake with a glass of Lake House wine.
