When people come together as one friendships bloom, connections form, and change begins. This year, Mental Health Foundation Australia presents the Wellness Walk for Mental Health as part of National Mental Health Month 2019.

This is the perfect opportunity to meet good people in a good environment and move together for a great cause.

The walk takes place on Sunday the 20th of October from 10:30am – 12:30pm, at Kings Park and Botanic Garden, where great company is guaranteed.

About Mental Health Foundation Australia

Founded in 1930, the Mental Health Foundation Australia is one of the oldest mental health associations in the country. Working towards a better understanding of the importance of mental wellbeing, the Foundation seeks to educate the community about treatments available for mental illness, to initiate mental health research and to remove stigmas associated with mental illnesses. 

Funds raised through the Kings Park Wellness Walk will go towards supporting these aims.

Flying through the Showground, Color Runners will be immersed in a pigment wonderland when they are doused head-to-toe in clouds of color at dedicated Color Zones at each kilometre. The ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet™’ will also feature the Bubble Zone, a pink and purple color-clash at the 7-Eleven Super Zone, and a dream-land Foam Zone by Vöost.

Description

This walk is set in the beautiful Blackwood district. Spend Friday night in Balingup before being transported 40kms south for two full days of walking with only your day pack!

No big heavy packs and even a touch of glamping on Saturday night at our private Track-side campsite complete with flushing toilet and a hot shower!

Your backpack will contain your lunch, a jacket and water but your food, clothes, stove, tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag will be waiting for you to set up at our private camp. Freshen up on Sunday afternoon with a hot shower in Balingup before being transported back to Perth.

Includes trip preparation notes, return transport from Murdoch Park'n'Ride rail terminal and bus transfer to start of walk, transfer of your gear to the Track-side campsite plus accommodation on Friday night, showers on Saturday and Sunday and equipment hire. Food not included.

Welcome to the second annual “Wildflower Festival of Running”, The events is  a trail run through the Pinnacles Desert on the Saturday.  They provide a unique challenge for runners of all abilities over two days, catering for both competitors and spectators. The events suit individuals of all level of abilities and training while providing a  challenge, with distances that will suit everyone who wishes to experience the Challenge.

The events range from 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres to the 21.1 kilometre Half
Marathon – Times can be added to achieve a two-day result.

The Bloody Long Walk is a 35km challenge owned and operated by the Mito Foundation.

Mito is a debilitating and potentially fatal genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to convert food into the energy needed to power muscles and major organs; 1 in 200 people are at risk of developing mito. One Australian child born each week suffers a severe or life-threatening form of mito making it the second most commonly diagnosed serious genetic disease after cystic fibrosis.

Take in the city skyline from the serene banks of the Swan River before crossing at Windan Bridge. Follow the river to the coast with spectacular water views before finishing at iconic Cottesloe Beach.
Enjoy the 35km challenge at your own pace, be it a walk, jog or run, knowing that every step is one step closer to finding a cure for mito! Fully supported course with checkpoints and refreshments.
