Sculpture by the Sea is back from March 4th – 21st at Cottesloe Beach. The iconic exhibition will transform the beach into a seaside sculpture park, displaying over 70 sculptures from both local and international artists. The exhibition brings culture and intrigue to the white sands of Cottesloe, as beachgoers and art-lovers alike can enjoy the free exhibition. Here are some artworks you can expect to see this year.
'Figurative Abstraction' by Norton Flavel, Cottesloe 2022.
Norton Flavel is a Sculpture by the Sea regular, his art has been featured multiple times in previous years. His past artworks included ‘Lucky Country’ and ‘Bulk Carrier’. This year, he is showcasing his highly anticipated two metre high aluminium sculpture, ‘Figurative Abstraction.'
'From Chaos Comes Order' by Fiona Gavino, Cottesloe 2022.
Nationally recognised sculptor, Fiona Gavino, will also be returning to the exhibition for the third time. Her work is inspired by intercultural dialogues, transforming tradition by adding contemporary elements. Her work is based off her impressive basketry techniques, evident in her six by four metre high sculpture made with cane, titled ‘From Chaos Comes Order.'

Sculptor Greg Johns has showcased his work across multiple seaside exhibitions, making him a member of the decade club. He is known for his large, contemporary sculptures, that bridge old and new elements. Known to attract crowds to his work in the past, it’s no wonder his sculptures have been a part of Sculpture by the Sea for decades.

April Pine produces sculptures that you wont forget, creating them in a way that can change and manipulate shape based on the audience perspective. The Perth-based artist received the Alcoa Aluminium Sculpture Award of $10,000 in 2020 for her work ‘Flutter.' Her other popular sculptures include 'Tidal' and 'Shifting Horizons.'

R.M (Ron) Gomboc is a renowned sculptor and also apart of the decade club. His sculptures aim to reflect human condition and the meaning of our existence. His renowned work has been displayed in both Cottesloe and Bondi exhibitions.
Throughout the course of the exhibition, an estimated 200 000 visitors will view the artworks. This means that parking can be busy, especially on the weekends. We recommend to park at Cottesloe train station and catch the Cott Cat to the beach. After a walk admiring the art, stop by one of the many delicious restaurants on Marine Parade.
