After a work trip to his family's homeland of Italy in the early 1990s Fil Barreca, aged just 21, discovered his intrinsic connection to working in a vineyard and growing grapes on a highly innovative Sicilian winery. He took inspiration and passion back to Donnybrook and begun planting vines immediately establishing the winery in 1994.
With 46 hectares under vine the predominant varieties include Shiraz, cult favourite Barbera, Shiraz Malbec, Zinfandel, Sangiovese and many more.
The sparkling and fortified wines are proudly 100% estate bottled, including the Estate’s premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil which is produced from the Estates premium olive plantation.

Beginning with 300 mandarin trees, the Kyotmunga became a vineyard and olive grove in 1997 under the ownership of Trevor and Lynette Chester. Major renovations were completed to create the cellar door in 2003, and the couple also played a key role with other winemakers in establishing the Chittering Valley Wine trail. All Kyotmunga wines are made on the premises within a farm shed that has been customised by Trevor to reduce temperature variation.
Kyotmunga focuses on making full bodied Shiraz, Grenache and Taminga (a sweet white variety). These wines can be purchased at the cellar door, and can be delivered free of charge in the metropolitan area.
The cellar door verandah overlooking the beautiful Chittering Valley offers a unique experience with plentiful tastings of wine, estate-grown olives, olive oil and Dukkah. The owners operate the cellar door and love discussing the process of grape growing and wine production. Open on weekends and public holidays from 11am-5pm.
Kyotmunga offers laidback dining, featuring platters of dolmades, cheese, olives and dukkah, and Devonshire teas. If visiting in Spring look out for their farm-grown mandarins that can be purchased to take home.
The name Kyotmunga has historical significance as it is the first recorded place name in the Chittering area. It is understood that the word Kyotmunga in the local Indigenous language means place of water. To maintain the historical significance of the name, the WA Government named a trail adjacent to the property the Kyotmunga Walk Trail. The trail leads to the Avon Valley National Park, which contains an abundance of natural flora and fauna.

Originally an orchard for stone fruit, pears and apples, the La Fattoria vineyard was established in 2012 by the Radice family with the planting of 11 Italian varieties. By nature of their native climates, Italian varieties are well suited to Australia's warm and dry grape-growing conditions, like those of the Perth Hills.
La Fattoria is home to one of WA’s widest Italian wine ranges, with varieties including Barbera, Sparkling Vermentino, Fiano, Sangiovese, Vermentino, Biancone, Sparkling Brachetto, Nebbiolo, Sparkling Pignoletto, Primitivo and Sagrantino.
In Italy, wine is typically served with food during family gatherings. With this philosophy in mind, the La Fattoria cellar door showcases its wines as wine flights, available with or without traditional antipasto, and always accompanied by a friendly chat with the winery's 'family'. 'Conversation with Italy' wine flights are $10 per person and include piccolo antipasto and tastings of five wines.
Enjoy lunch just like Nonna makes it at the estate's cosy trattoria, featuring a set menu of delectable Italian dishes designed to be shared among loved ones. The culinary experience includes a wine tasting and a rustic Italian menu created from locally-sourced, seasonal produce. Alternatively, select a range of antipasto items with La Fattoria’s 'pick your own platter' or homemade coffee and cake. Open Thursday to Sunday 11:30am to 4pm.
