Description

Brans Antiques & Art is a premium Antique dealing business based in Perth Western Australia, owned and operated by the Brans family, third generation antique dealers. Established in Perth for over 35 years, BRANS is now recognised as a leader in the Australian Antiques industry.

At BRANS we specialise in sourcing exceptional furniture and works of art from all over Australia and all over the world to present to our local private clientele, and discovering items of importance within Australia to present to the international trade.

We provide advice to our clients on all aspects of building and enhancing their collections, and equally we enjoy assisting them with placement and interiors advice to help create a more beautiful home to live in.

Our main areas of interest and expertise are early English and European furniture and sculpture, Chinese porcelain, Japanese sculpture and works of art, rugs and tapestries and Australian art. Although we have these particular areas of focus, our tastes are broad and extend from Antiquity to Modernity with the common themes of good design, high quality and original condition. We are unashamedly fussy, and believe that building a good collection is as much about what you reject as it is about what you choose to purchase.

We welcome you to our new website which currently shows a small selection of our stock together with a selection of pieces we have recently sold. We hope that you enjoy browsing our site and that you may be inspired to call on us to assist you with your collecting in the future, or indeed call in to see us in our gallery. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you wish to make an appointment to view our gallery outside our normal opening hours.

Description

Innovative and experimental visual artist Lisa Payton of Lisa Payton Creative Arts explores mixed media techniques to create evocative and inspirational artworks.

Local Artists first exhibition at the Mandurah Convention Centre

Mandurah Convention Centre proudly hosts Lisa Payton Creative Arts and her new exhibition “Abstract Earth Art” which explores through paint many of the natural phenomena connected to Australia’s vast and varied land and seascapes.

Inspired by both the magnificence of the natural landscape with its immense open spaces and organic shapes as well as the richness of an inherent colour palette, Payton’s works are vibrant and expressive.

In a similar vein to environmental photographer Richard Waldendorp, Payton paints from a bird’s eye view. Her process involves juxtaposing textured layers and soft glazes of a diverse variety of mediums.  These include acrylic and enamel paint, acrylic mediums, turpentine, grass tree resin, bitumen, textured plasters, modeling paste and impasto which she applies to canvas, board and aluminum structures through experimental paint pouring and palette knife techniques.

“Abstract Earth Art’ Exhibition is about connecting people with the environment.” Says Payton, “Through the abstract bird’s eye view style of my art work people often recognize a place they have been throughout Australia.” It is through the recognition of the land that Payton delivers a positive environmental message, one of respect and responsibility towards the earth we live in.

Lisa Payton Creative Arts has been exhibiting at local markets, in particular the Smart Street Parties and has gained a reputation for her original aluminum outdoor wall and table features. She enjoys watching people interpreting her artwork and creating their own environmental story from it.

Beach-combing on a remote Far Northern section of The Great Barrier Reef, gave me opportunity to take a special photo that has now made its way into my artwork.

It was the catalyst to commence a marine inspired theme called “overboard”. A small cottage in Margaret River has been in the process of renovation during the past 12 months and an art studio has emerged. I now have a home for my artworks and space to paint in a pretty little piece of Margaret River.

Painting is as much a part of my life as eating or resting. Even though I have intention when I begin a new piece, I allow the painting to have a say. There is a great deal of problem solving that goes on but challenge brings growth, satisfaction and endless inspiration and hopefully a positive emotional response from the viewer.

I run group workshops in pastel, acrylic and oils at my studio gallery, as well as for art societies throughout Australia.
