Established in 1977, Ausdance WA is a membership organisation providing support and advocacy for all forms of dance. We are part of a network of Ausdance State organisations delivering integrated programs across the country, anticipating industry issues and providing innovative and inclusive responses. The national office is based in Canberra.

Support

Our membership program is here to support dancers through each step of their careers. By keeping in touch with the individuals working within our sector, we provide informed and effective advocacy for dance in Western Australia.

Ausdance WA is a proud supporter of Healthways Act-Belong-Commit message. Our annual schedule of projects presents an array of free opportunities to get involved and make dance part of your every day life. 

Educate

We endeavor to raise the bar for dance education in Western Australia through developing a range of professional development training programs for both studio and school teachers.

Description

At CircusWA we are committed to ensuring our students learn skills in a very safe but fun environment. Working out of a traditional circus big top we deliver all of our programs with low teacher student ratios to ensure everyone gets to learn and feel supported. The school holidays are a great time to learn new skills, or just come and hang out for a fun all round circus exploration at our Big Top Circus Skills sessions. As we are situated in central Fremantle, this means that before or after your circus session you can enjoy some of the amazing food and entertainment available around Fremantle - starting with our neighbours at iconic Clancy's Fish Pub.

King Street Arts Centre

The Kings Street Arts Centre is a home for arts and cultural organisations representing a blend of youth, regional, community and professional arts activity and practice. These include Artsource, Ausdance Western Australia, Buzz Dance Theatre, Community Arts Network WA (CANWA), Country Arts WA, FORM, Steps Youth Dance Company and the West Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTC).

Description

The King Street Arts Centre is located between King and Murray Street in Perth and occupies the former Munster House. Originally built in the early 1900s Munster House was extensively refurbished in the late 1990s to establish the King Street Arts Centre.

The Kings Street Arts Centre is a home for arts and cultural organisations representing a blend of youth, regional, community and professional arts activity and practice. These include Artsource, Ausdance Western Australia, Buzz Dance Theatre, Community Arts Network WA (CANWA), Country Arts WA, FORM, Steps Youth Dance Company and the West Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTC).

The two meeting rooms at the King Street Art Centre are available for bookings by arts organisations and private companies.

Please refer to the King Street Art Centre Booking Guidelines for more information including conditions of use, fees, venue details and maps. Venue hire rates will increase from 1 January 2013. To make a booking, download the Application Form:

Three dance studios with sprung dance floors (second floor) are also available for hire, managed by Ausdance. Please refer to the Guidelines for further information or contact Ausdance on (08) 9322 6101.

The building is maintained by Metway Real Estate on behalf of the Department of Culture and the Arts. 

Marrugeku Inc

Marrugeku pursues powerful new forms of cultural knowledge and the survival, preservation and growth of Indigenous story, dance and language through the making of new intercultural performance work.

Description

Marrugeku is an unparalled presence in Australia today, dedicated to Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians working together to develop new dance languages that are restless, transformative and unwavering.

Marrugeku is led by co-artistic directors: choreographer/dancer Dalisa Pigram and director/dramaturg Rachael Swain. Working together for 23 years, they co-conceive and facilitate Marrugeku’s productions and research laboratories, introducing audiences to the unique and potent structures of Indigenous knowledge systems and the compelling experience of intercultural performance. Marrugeku’s performers come from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, collaborating to co-create each production. 

OUTdance

OUTdance is a Perth based ballroom dancing group that stages various social events and runs weekly classes for same-sex couples and singles.

Description

Starting in 2001, OUTdance is a great opportunity to meet new people while you learn how to dance in a safe, relaxed environment.

Dances include Cha Cha, Cubam Rumba, Barn Dance, Disco Madison, Evening Three Step, Jive, Progressive Jive, Quickstep, Samba, Square Rumba, Slow Rhythm and Tango. 

OUTdance is held every Tuesday from 7:00pm at the Mt Hawthorn Community Hall.

Each year RRAC hosts various art activities, events and workshops to meet the artistic needs of the community; to develop audiences and participants, encouraging the use of arts to build community cohesion and identity.

RRAC is currently one of only 2 'Key' Country Arts WA organisations in WA. With the reputation of hosting high quality events and providing art opportunities to the community, it continues as a strong organisation, growing with the changing needs of the Ravensthorpe region.

RRAC seeks to build partnerships with local businesses, community groups, government and individuals in order to further develop art in the wider region. We provide a positive economic stimulus to the region with grants, sponsorships and partnerships bringing in external money to the area. This positive economic impact on the region builds upon the services of local businesses, community members and local government; raising the profile of the Shire of Ravensthorpe for all stakeholders.
