Rottnest Island Museum

For only a gold coin donation you can learn all about Rottnest Island, it's past, present and even future plans. It's a must do on anyones trip to the beautiful Rottnest Island!

Description

Housed in the original old mill and haystore, it was built by Aboriginal prisoners in 1857. The museum provides fascinating insights and comprehensive information about the Island including history, marine wrecks, European settlement, Aboriginal prisoners, communication and recreations.

Entry is by a gold coin donation. 

Rottnest Museum

Built with Aboriginal labour in 1857 by Henry Vincent, this building was originally a hayshed and granary.

Description

Today the museum displays provide a comprehensive coverage of the main themes on the island; natural history, marine wrecks, European settlement, Aboriginal prisoners, communications and recreation. It also houses a wealth of historical photographs to view.
