Description

Danced by WAAPA students with LINK Dance Company, this is the first time Tannhäuser Bacchanal will be performed outside of Germany and the first-ever performance of Pina Bausch's work in Perth. Widely considered to be the precursor to Bausch's famous The Rite of Spring, Tannhäuser Bacchanal will be taught by leading artist-in-residence Barbara Kaufmann supported by Marigia Maggipinto, both long-standing members of the Tanztheater Wuppertal. The Minderoo Foundation is proud to partner with WAAPA to bring these world-class arts practitioners to Perth as part of the Visiting Artist program. Performed by: 2nd and 3rd Year Dance students with LINK Dance Company Pina Bausch is one of the most important choreographers of the 20th century.

Raw Colour Art Exhibition

Description

Join artist Cameron Richards in the studio as he talks through his process of creating realistic portraiture in oil paint. Participants will be provided with a pre-stencilled canvas and guided through the initial (and most important layer) of the portrait. Richards will impart some of the key lessons he has learnt along his painting journey and provide educational material so the portrait can be completed at home. About the artist Cameron Richards is a portrait artist from Perth, Western Australia. His oil based portraits are deeply intimate, inviting the viewer to connect with the sitter, to explore the sitter's story. Whilst his portraits maintain a realism description, his backdrops derive inspiration from various techniques in expressionism, offering the opportunity to expand on his sitters' story through symbolism via intricate designs and patterns. Richards has exhibited in multiple competitions Australia-wide, however will be holding his first group exhibition in mid-October.

Brought to you by new female-led production company MM Creative Productions, the concert will bring to life the sweeping scores of Disney films both old and new.

Set to a backdrop of original Disney footage, it’s a two-act concert featuring recent hits like Moana and Frozen, along with the classics like Cinderella, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. Disney lovers will enjoy this trip down memory lane as beloved songs are brought to life through the talents of some of Australia's top theatre stars, and sweeping orchestral scores are performed on stage live by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, led by the incredible Jessica Gethin. The concert is also a rare and exciting opportunity for children to be introduced to a full symphony orchestra, playing the music they know and love in a child-friendly, accessible environment.

Perth Concert Hall’s 3000-pipe organ will be commanded by superstar organist Alessandro Pittorino (graduate of the famed Juilliard School in New York City), accompanying the first Dracula film ever released: cult classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, the silent 1922 German Expressionist horror film.

What makes this experience even more unique? Alessandro will be creating and improvising the live film score (music) to this cult horror as you watch; each moment more riveting and 'on the edge of your seat' than the last.
