Her OCD makes her sorry for everything. But she’s most sorry her favourite karri forest might not exist one day. Reflecting on the events of Black Summer and the Wooroloo bushfires, Watch and Act is a hilarious anti-comedy about missed warning signs for OCD and nostalgia for a time and place that’s already disappearing. It’s also an audition tape to be Nigella Lawson’s emergency contact in a climate crisis

The tour kicks off at the Crown Theatre Perth, before moving to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, the Gold Coast, Auckland and Christchurch.

The band, who announced in late 2018 that Kevin Simm (winner of ‘The Voice UK’ and former member of Liberty X) had joined original members Graeme Clark, Neil Mitchell and Tommy Cunningham as lead vocalist, will be performing their most iconic hits, including ‘Love is all around’, the best-selling single in Australia of 1994, along with ‘Sweet Surrender’, Goodnight Girl’, ‘Julia Says’ and many more.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve been to Australia and New Zealand! We loved our numerous trips there in the past and can’t wait to see everyone again” Graeme Clark said.

Neil Mitchell said, “It’ll have been twenty-five years since we last played there so this is a well overdue return!”

“Australia and New Zealand are incredible countries so I’m really excited to get there and play for Wet Wet Wet’s ‘down under’ fans!” Kevin Simm said.

Tommy Cunningham said “We’re really looking forward to revisiting all the cities we’ve been to before and catching up with old friends, whilst at the same time getting to see some new places and making new friends.”

Since the release of their first single, ‘Wishing I Was Lucky,’ in 1987 the band has grown to become one of the most successful in British pop history. In their career to date they have sold over 15 million singles and albums, featured in the charts for an impressive 500 weeks, and had 27 official UK Top 40 hit singles. Wet Wet Wet has played to more than 4 million people in dozens of countries worldwide; and each tour has cemented their reputation as being one of the best live acts to come out of the UK.

Description

Dvorák had the most marvellous and engaging response to the USA he encountered in the 1890s. Dvorák composed this quartet in an astonishingly productive couple of weeks, reacting with childlike enthusiasm to the sounds he encountered on a rare family holiday in the countryside.

How fitting to see this programmed alongside two distinctive and original masterpieces for piano quintet – and throwing into relief the mature and individual voice of young Australian composer Jakub Jankowski. And how brilliant to have them performed by the Goldner Quartet and Piers Lane – long-time friends, colleagues, collaborators – who for so long have championed the old and the new with utter commitment.

Artists:

DENE OLDING VIOLIN
DIMITY HALL VIOLIN
IRINA MOROZOVA VIOLA
JULIAN SMILES CELLO

Description

Comprised of Nai Palm (guitar, vocals), Paul Bender (bass), Simon Mavin (keys), and Perrin Moss (drums), Hiatus Kaiyote broke internationally in 2012 with their first LP, Tawk Tomahawk, which was praised by simpatico musical travelers from Erykah Badu to Questlove to Prince, and embraced by DJs like the BBC’s Gilles Peterson, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Anthony Valadez (KCRW/Morning Becomes Eclectic). Their first R&B Grammy nomination, for their song “Nakamarra,” was followed by a second for “Breathing Underwater,” from their sophomore album, 2015’s Choose Your Weapon. Still, their music defied categorization: Some called it “neo-soul,” others “future soul”; the band calls it, simply, wondercore. Their music found fans in hip-hop, sampled on songs by The Carters (Beyonce & Jay-Z), Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Chance The Rapper, and Drake—with whom Nai Palm collaborated on his Scorpion album; and in jazz, when Robert Glasper invited the band to appear on his album of Miles Davis remakes, Everything’s Beautiful. Their records and live shows won them raves in The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and in the New York Times, where Jon Pareles wrote that “Hiatus Kaiyote’s music stretches and bends every parameter.”
